How do I know what leash to buy for my stand up paddle board you may ask? When searching for a new SUP leash you have two primary options, a coiled leash, or a standard leash. Ideally, you want the length of your leash to be close to the length of your board, give or take 1-2 feet.
A coiled leash helps prevent your leash from tangling up by your feet, and also rests outside of the water, minimizing a users drag. Coiled leashes are a great option for those stand up paddle boarders who want to maximize their speed with less leash drag and for general flat water paddlers who want to a tighter, closer felt leash.
A straight leash is a more traditional and commonly used leash, which many find more comfortable and unrestricting.
