Sounds of the Beach: 10 Pandora Stations For Every Beach Occasion

by |

Sometimes perfect occasions can be made even better with just the right background music . Whether hosting a beach bash, planning a romantic candlelit picnic on the coast or chilling with some friends to catch a tan and toss around a volleyball, it's important to set the mood with the right tunes. Instead of trying to put together the perfect playlist, let Pandora be the DJ and create the ambiance for whatever the occasion.

1. Jimmy Buffet

What better station for a beach BBQ than that of the original “Parrothead” himself? Embrace your inner beach bum, fire up the BBQ and enjoy the classic “Cheeseburgers in Paradise” while the waves crash nearby. This station sets the laid back tone with tunes by Zac Brown Band, Van Morrison, James Taylor and Dave Matthews.

2. Bob Marley

Discover your inner Rastafarian while jamming the night away with artists like Ziggy Marley, UB40 and of course, the man himself, Bob Marley! Playing this station is an easy way to create a fun-loving, free-as-a-bird type of energy while basking in the sun. It's also the ideal station for lovers lounging under the stars.

3. Laid Back Beach Music

The title of this Pandora station pretty much sums it up. Everyone will be asking, “What station is this?” It's a must have for any event that involves sand, waves and the salty ocean air. Let the sound of the waves crashing on the shore be accompanied by songs from Michael Franti & Spearhead, Rebelution, Ingrid Michaelson and O.A.R.

4. Turn Down For What

If you're planning a beachside rager, this may be the way to get everyone up off their feet and jumping and dancing! Bump and grind to tunes by Iggy Azalea, Lil Jon, B.o.B and Jason DeRulo as the sun sets and the volume cranks. Your friends will be raving about your “party of the year.” When they tell you they loved the playlist, go ahead and let them think you hand-picked the songs yourself. We won’t tell. ;)

5. Crystal Fighters

Guaranteed to put a smile on anyone's face. The Crystal Fighters Pandora station has been known to be the instigator of impromptu, all-out, “who cares what you look like,” beach dance parties. Groove to artists like Milky Chance, ODESZA and Vance Joy.

6. Country Road Trip

Sometimes, nothing reminds you more of carefree summer days like good ol' storytelling country jams. If twang is your thang, trust Country Road Trip to get the party started with the sounds of Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Bruce Springsteen and Tim McGraw.

7. Summer Hits of the 90's

Take a trip back to brightly colored fanny packs and platformed shoes. Blink 182, Third Eye Blind, Spice Girls and Goo Goo Dolls will pump up the volume, (notice the Jock Jams reference?), and keep you nostalgically reminiscing about the 90's. Unless, you're throwing a 90's themed party, be sure to tell your guests to leave their pleather, overalls and grunge attire at home.

8. Sublime

Planning a laid back, just-kicking-it-on-the-beach type of get together? Gather your besties and toss a few back with Sublime, a station that always brings that chill sing along vibe. All your favorites from Red Hot Chili Peppers, Weezer, 311 and Cage the Elephant will show up for the party.

9. Jack Johnson

A family-friendly station to enjoy while playing around with the frisbee or volleyball. If you're in a mellow mood, the calm strumming from this station is perfect while gathering around a beachside bonfire. Favorites by Jack will be accompanied by tunes from Ben Harper, Jason Mraz, Donavon Frankenreiter and other quintessential beach bum artists.

10. Warning Sign Radio

Cuddle up with your honey and let the love ballots from Mazzy Star, Aqualung, Keane, Band of Horses and Coldplay do the serenading. This is the perfect station for a night under the stars on the sand and for all that lovey, dovey, ooey, gooey, mushy stuff. ;) Consider this station your new go-to to set a romantic tone.
