Considerations When Choosing What Style & Quality of SUP Paddle to Buy

Your SUP paddle choice is a critical part of the paddle board purchasing process. SUP paddles can come at a variety of prices depending on the material used and how well they’re built. Even the most expensive SUP paddle can break, but some are more susceptible to breaking than others. Ironically, some of the least expensive fiberglass paddles are also the most durable, but of course, they’re also the heaviest. When you’re buying a paddle board paddle, it’s often a trade-off between weight, strength, and price. Selecting a SUP paddle that best balances these factors is the key.

We’ve researched most all of the SUP paddle brands and manufacturers and numerous construction methods and hand-selected what we feel are some of the best carbon fiber stand-up paddles, the best economy SUP paddles, and the best value in each of those categories, and these are the SUP paddles we choose to sell to our customers.

Understanding the Differences in SUP Paddle Construction

A few different materials are used to make SUP paddles, and each of them offers unique advantages and disadvantages. The majority of the SUP paddles for sale are made of fiberglass or carbon fiber. Fiberglass paddles usually offer the best value, as they are strong, relatively light, and not too expensive. Carbon fiber paddles are the lightest and strongest SUP paddles on the market. While a carbon fiber paddle board paddle is often a more expensive option, for paddle boarders who go long distances, the lighter weight of these SUP paddles can make a huge difference.

Other SUP paddles on the market are made out of aluminum and plastic. You may save money in the moment on these types of paddles, but they usually do not last as long because they are built using cheap materials or inferior construction methods. Aluminum SUP paddles are also heavier and will be more difficult to paddle with. Overall, a SUP paddle made out of aluminum or plastic may come at a low price, but in the long run, it won’t be worth it because it will break easily, leaving you needing to buy another one.

We highly recommend investing in high-quality SUP paddles for sale that won’t leave you frustrated down the line. Shop our selection of consumer-direct paddling accessories to find a SUP paddle that you can trust so all of your paddle boarding adventures will be worthwhile!
