Inflatable Racing Paddle Boards: Tower Xplorer

Includes a 14' by 32" by 8" inflatable SUP, a high-end Tower branded diamond grooved deck pad, a standard longboard fin box with a removable center fin, a hand hold strap, a roll-up carrying strap, a towing ring on the nose, and a leash attachment ring on the tail.

Inflatable Racing Paddle Boards: A New Frontier in Inflatable SUPs

It will shock you how fast the 14' Tower Xplorer inflatable racing paddle board is. At 8" thick, it will also shock you how rigid it is. One of the major advantages of an inflatable racing paddle board of this size is that it allows you to do many different activities on the iSUP. Unlike our other inflatable paddleboards, the Xplorer has ample room to fit multiple people. Bring your kids, your significant other, or even your dog along for the SUP adventure. The Xplorer iSUP can also fit a cooler, several backpacks, and is the perfect fishing paddleboard

Traditional hard board unlimited racing class SUPs are the fastest boards on the market. At 14' or longer, and with many over 7.5 inches thick, they also present a massive storage and transportation problem. For speed and glide, the longer the better, but it's a bitter tradeoff. You need an oversized room or garage to store them, and you've got to crate them for shipping (at a cost of $1000s per shipment). This is largely why more manageable 12'6" length hard boards have become the standard racing class size, but really they're still monsters to transport.

However, when you go with an inflatable, the length is largely irrelevant for storage and transportation as you just roll them up and go. We figured the longer the better, and we were right on the money. Once we tested the boards, we were blown away at the speed. It's the fastest board in our entire line-up... and if fits in a duffel bag when rolled up.

Amazing Rigidity

The Tower inflatable racing paddleboard was built for optimal performance. Due to its extreme rigidity and streamlined design it is one of the top stand up paddle boards on the market.

The Tower Xplorer Inflatable SUP is made from extremely rugged materials like those you would find on the highly regarded Zodiac boats and extreme river rafts. The stiff rigidity in the Xplorer is created by thousands of vertically oriented strands of identical length that connect the top deck to the bottom. When inflated, they form a structure that has the rigidity of a piece of plywood, and the thicker you go the exponentially more rigid it gets. Because of this rigidity, this inflatable racing paddle board is capable of going as fast as a traditional paddle boards. The Tower Xplorer is an unparalleled 8" thick. You'll be amazed. We have tested this inflatable racing paddle board with people over 300lbs and the board does not falter at all.

A Viable EPS/Epoxy Board Alternative - We're not kidding!

Traditionally, inflatable SUPs were only a consideration for traveling - store one in the cuddy cabin on your yacht, take it with you on the plane, or haul it into that secret mountain lake or river and you can stand up paddle board in the farthest corners of the earth. With the combination of speed and rigidity of the Tower Xplorer, an inflatable SUP is hard to beat on flatwater with anything less than a full-fledged racing hard board... and don't be surprised if it outperforms a few of those.

Benefits of an Inflatable SUP over an EPS/Epoxy board

  • Easier to store - When rolled up, it's 1 foot in diameter and 37" wide.
  • Indestructible - Never worry again about dings and board cracks. I've literally thrown these things off a 2nd story deck and I frequently set it down anywhere (gravel, a parking lot, even on cement stairs).
  • Easier to transport - No need for roof racks. About the size of a rolled sleeping bag, it easily fits in any car or boat, and can even be strapped onto a bicycle or motorcycle. You can take it on a plane.
  • Softer - You can literally play bumper boats with these. Kids can jump from one board to the other like they're jumping on an inner tube. You won't get knocked out in the waves either.
  • Easy on the feet - While very rigid, the air does cushion your feet a lot more than a hard board, no matter how good the deck pad is.
  • Less expensive - Which also makes it a great idea as a second board for travel or guests.

I work my stuff hard and this board handels all the waves the ski boats put out it is fun to use and does go very fast can keep up with the solid boards even over take them and the size it great so we can get three people standing up paddling at the same time the one thing I dod not do is I never deflate it I keep my board full even through winter here in new England upton mass its a short season here but use till we got the last snow storm

I assume it's great!

I would love to write a glowing review about how wonderful this board is, how balanced and fast it is in open water, but the truth is that I don't know. Every time I've tried to use it, my children have piled on with me, so I've never used it alone. Here's what I can say: I am a hefty man, and I've ridden down the Boise River (a slow, pretty flat river) several times with three children on this thing, and it holds us all. I love this thing, even though I have no idea how well it works with one person on it. Highly recommended.

Works wonders for my 360 lb self

I was looking for one that would hold my 360 lb self up out of the water. this one does that and can hold my wife with me as well no trouble.

Tower paddle board 14

Review by: from Portland on 6/8/2020
Great product! Very sturdy, stable and well balanced board. I live in Portland, took the board out for the first paddle out on Columbia River. We had another board ordered from Nixie 12.50. Columbia as you know can get challenging and choppy. Nixie was fast but to balance on that board with the wakes was very difficult. We switched birds and now I was on our tower 14. What a difference. Tower felt like a huge well balanced boat to be honest. It handled the wakes like a champ. I am very satisfied with the board. I am in the process of returning my nixie and getting another on of these beauties. Thanks guys!

This is a great board

It's built to last and to takes lots of weight. I just wish it had D-rings already place on the front and back for securing gear.

Very Stable, Missing a gear securement area

Review by: from Portland, OR on 7/18/2019
I am 6'3 385ish. I am able to stand up on this and paddle around. I was a little wobbly the first time, but each time I am more and more stable and comfortable. I have been really looking for a board that would support me and I finally found it.

Definitely needs a bungie area for gear, and some D rings on the side to secure a kayak seat, or just use to pull yourself back up on the board, which is not easy in open water. All in all a great board, and those issues can be fixed with some aftermarket D rings

Good board

Bought this board for myself, I weigh 360lbs and it's a little wobbly but it's also my first time using one. Still didn't fall in!

Xplorer for the win

Review by: from Reno on 5/6/2018
After researching for an inflatable paddle board we could store in our truck camper, Tower was the obvious choice. Rigged yet still easily carried, the 14’ Xplorer fit the bill and did not disappoint!

Finally a board I can enjoy!

Review by: from Florida and Ohio on 4/26/2018
I'm 6'2" and a long-waisted 224lbs. I'm also a paddle board beginner. Because I'm an experienced kayaker, I thought SUP would be easy. However, with a lot of weight up high, previous boards I've owned that were supposed to be OK left me feeling like I was balancing on a log. After a few minutes I'd be exhausted because of the constant balance challenges. The 14' Explorer has changed all that. Finally, I'm able to balance, relax and begin to enjoy SUP. I first tried it this past week in Florida and it was pure fun. It tracked very well and friends who tried it noticed how well it glides compared to their own shorter hard boards. I was paddling in light breezes in relatively calm water. It was very stable. It has great primary and secondary stability. Once inflated it felt rock solid. I also purchased the Tower electric pump which worked like a champ. It was about 15 minutes to full inflation and about 5 minutes to full deflation. I also opted for the carbon/kevlar 3-piece paddle which made paddling a pleasure. So glad I've finally got a board that fits me. Finally, the Tower staff were great to work with.

Amazing board

Can't say enough positive things about this board. It's stable, smooth, fast - a pure delight. I always leave it inflated and throw it on the car. Works great. Arrived with a few nicks on the side decals and foot top foot pad, but nothing that effects the experience. Highly recommended.

Very stable in wavy water

I have the Adventurer 2 10'4" and really like iit. The 14 foot Xplorer is a different animal. Much more stable and it tracks quite a bit better. I think I'll be taking out the Xplorer a lot more. Hoping to use it to take my two young boys out. Thanks for a great iSUP!

Love my new board

Review by: from on 5/13/2017
Thank you so much for this gorgeous board! I had a smaller 10.8' foam paddleboard before but because of my weight I had a hard time balancing on it. I was nervous that an inflatable board wouldn't be as sturdy as a hard board but after reading some of the reviews and given that the weight limit is so high, I decided to go ahead and order the Xplorer 14' inflatable board. I take it out to the lake at least 2-3x/week and get so many compliments on it! Even though I have a truck, I love that I can just roll the board up and throw it in the back seat rather than tying it down in the truck bed. I am still learning to paddle but I can't say enough about how sturdy this board is! I am considering getting one for my boyfriend now also! Thanks Tower:)

Made well but....

Review by: from on 8/26/2016
Not as stable as I thought it would be in the ocean (very small waves). It is too light and the 8" height makes it easy to blow around and very difficult (near impossible) to get back on if you slip off. Best to stick to calm water and no wind blowing.

Very Impressed, highly recommend this board

Review by: from on 7/26/2016
I have a niche application for this board, primarily using it with 3 dogs (at the same time) plus camping gear. My glass boards could not handle the load. I bought this board expecting that the buoyancy would more than meet my needs but I accepted the possibility that I might end up paddling a board that felt like a barge. I was completely wrong. This board is very easy to paddle. It is much faster than the glass board, with the same load. I was also surprised by how easy this board is to turn. On the attention to detail side of things, it is incredibly well balance making it easy to carry and/or load on a car rack when fully inflated. I expected the deck mat to be a simple non-skid surface but it has a surprising amount of cushion, making it very comfortable to stand on. I bought the electric pump and absolutely love that. I am going to sell my glass board, because at this point I cant think of anything that board does better than this, for how I want to use a paddle board.

Great value and build quality

Review by: from on 7/25/2016
I'm 350 pounds on a light day. This board is rock solid and stable on this lake and handles well in 1'-2' chop. Took a bit getting used to how high off the water it is, and have to be close to shore to climb back up. Soft to the touch on the deck pad. Next step is to strap a cooler to it for longer adventures. Not too big either, my wife had this strapped to roof rack just as fast as her 9 footer.

XP 14' / bubble

Review by: from on 7/22/2016
A little concerned about the bubble on the bottom of the board below fill hole, however a tower representative said that this is normal.

Great for Big Dudes!

Review by: from on 7/7/2016
I'm 6'-4", 280lb, and have had trouble finding big enough rental boards to handle me when I'm on vacation. Not anymore. I'll be using this when travellng, and at home. Took it to the lake this weekend, and it was very stable. This monster takes a little effort to turn, but tracks very well due to its length. Expect to make new friends. I was approached by several people, one person was interested in buyng one, and took a picture of the brand & website script on the board. Maybe Tower will send me some swag for marketing...(?). Anyways, so far, so good with the purchase. Fast, and free shipping is a definite plus. Good customer service. I had a few questions answered online before buying, and that was helpful. It would be good if they had a rollng travel duffle that was big enough to handle it, and that hopefully stays under the airline dimension limits. I'm researching, and shopping for that magic combo. Can't comment on durability yet, but it seems very sturdy.

So much fun!

You won't regret buying this.
